Remove external overclocking
If you previously used a PS5/PS4 controller overclocked to 8000 Hz with HIDUSBF, open the program and set that controller/port back to Default.

Your Axion x Marius MH4 controller arrives configured, calibrated and tested. This guide explains what to do when you receive it and when to enter setup to make personal adjustments.
No external overclocking, no mandatory recalibration and no manual firmware update. Connect the controller correctly and try its in-game feel straight away.
Axion prepares your Axion x Marius MH4 before shipping. The first step is to remove any external overclocking used with previous controllers and connect the pad to the correct USB port.
Enter the Marius portal only if you want to change rear button mapping, adjust the polling rate managed by the board or make small advanced adjustments. The controller is already ready to play.
Follow these steps in order. They help avoid conflicts with previous overclocking, unsuitable USB ports and configurations already saved on the board.
If you previously used a PS5/PS4 controller overclocked to 8000 Hz with HIDUSBF, open the program and set that controller/port back to Default.
Connect the USB-A → USB-C cable to a rear USB port on your PC, directly on the motherboard. USB 3.0 ports are often blue.
After connecting the controller, check that the port is listed under Chip 0. If it is not, unplug the controller and try another rear USB port.
Nothing else is needed at this point. Axion has already calibrated the controller: open your main game and test aim, movement, triggers and rear buttons.
These settings have been configured, tested and saved on the board before delivery. You do not need to change them to start playing.
The controller is physically based on PS4, but XInput firmware allows your PC or game to recognise it as an Xbox controller. This does not indicate a problem.
Use the Marius portal when you want to change something. You do not need to do this when your controller arrives.
Unplug the controller. Hold the PS button and, while holding it, connect the USB-C cable to the controller.
Go to setup.mariusheier.com, press Connect Controller, select the controller in the browser window and confirm.
After each change, press Save to Controller. Wait for confirmation, then unplug and reconnect the controller normally.
If the default configuration does not suit your play style, you can remap the rear buttons in the Marius portal without changing stick or trigger calibration.
Change one button at a time and test it in game immediately. There is no need to change everything if the controller already works well.
Press it only to identify the input you are changing, then choose the button to assign in the software.
MH4 polling rate is managed through Marius software. Do not use HIDUSBF to force 8000 Hz on an MH4 controller.
If you notice stuttering or unstable input, try 4000 Hz or 2000 Hz and save to the board.
The sticks are already adjusted. Make small adjustments only if you understand the setting or a direction does not feel correct.
Make small changes, save and test in game after each adjustment.
XInput firmware is installed on the board before shipping. Do not update the firmware if the controller works correctly.
Use the update page only when requested by Axion support or for a specific LED/error issue.
Testers, polling rate and stick values help diagnose issues, but the main reference is always how the controller behaves in game.
First check that external overclocking has been removed in HIDUSBF. Do not force MH4 to 8000 Hz with external programs: manage polling through Marius software.
Try the other rear motherboard USB ports one at a time. Avoid front ports, hubs and adapters. If you cannot find Chip 0, use the most stable rear port.
This is normal: XInput firmware can make the game recognise an Xbox layout even though the controller is physically based on PS4.
Unplug the controller. Hold PS and connect the USB-C cable while still holding the button. If this does not work, try another USB-A → USB-C data cable and a rear port.
Use Chrome or Edge, check that your cable supports data transfer and make sure the controller is in Setup Mode. Close any software that may be using the controller.
Return to setup, undo or restore the changed value and save to the board again. If you cannot remember what you changed, open an Axion support ticket before adjusting more advanced settings.
